Feast of Losses: Turning Towards Aging, Death and Letting Go

I’ve been so woven
into the mesh
of my trivial errands,
that only now
do I begin to hear
the mystery
of dying everywhere.
— Rumi, “Dying”

All the wisdom teachings of the world tell us, through one story or another, that the key to life lies in the manner in which we meet death within and around us. This retreat is an opportunity to welcome all that emerges as we turn towards the losses that abound in a life fully lived.

Kim has been drawn to the mystery of death since she wrote her first poem about it at the age of seven. Since then she has held friends and family members in her arms as they took their last breath, and has practiced and taught the art of turning toward the many daily deaths that abound in a life fully lived. For four and a half decades she has been designing immersive environments that support deep and embodied self inquiry. “Feast of Losses” is a culmination and convergence of all the threads of her previous work.

In this experiential onsite retreat, poetry, ritual, movement, writing, silence and inquiry will hold, heal, challenge, and reveal us. Within an exquisitely supportive sacred space, we will welcome the fears, blessings and awakenings that come from opening to the losses that have been and will be shaping our life story and who we are within it. As Rumi says, “the hurt you embrace becomes joy.” Join Kim to discover the inevitable, ineffable lived truth of these words, and what they mean for yourself and those you love. .

The turbulence of our external world cries out for a counterbalance of transformative inner work that reconnects us to ourselves and each other.

"Kim teaches us that even now - in a time of grave danger, cynicism and terrible confusion - it is possible to live and to speak from the undefended heart.... Listen. Take heart."

"I went to Kim Rosen's "Death's Door" last year, and it was undoubtedly the most powerful and profound retreat I've ever experienced. Invaluable for anyone dedicated to personal and spiritual development."

“I feel I’ve shifted to a deeper, more ‘me’ place, and the shift feels permanent. The poems and music transported me into the grief I’ve never been able to allow before and I emerge with a new sense of inner freedom.”
